Embrace-a-Child
There's one
thing the
favelas are not
lacking and
that's children!
We minister to
hundreds of
children each
week and each
one has special
needs of their
own. Coming from
very poor
families most of
them don't have
the privilege of
luxuries or
going on special
outings. A few
years ago we
created a
program called
"Adopt-a-Child",
which has since
been renamed
"Embrace-a-Child"
together with
the First
Baptist Church
of Smyrna.
Church members
began sponsoring
needy children
for a year which
enabled them to
go on special
field trips,
participate in
sleep-over camp,
and/or receive
special gift
packages
quarterly.
The Love of
Christ has been
shown over and
over again in
the favelas
through these
gifts! The
families of the
children, some
who have never
been open to the
Gospel, have
witnessed
first-hand how
loving and
supportive
brothers and
sisters in
Christ can be
through their
actions and
through their
prayers. It has
definitely made
an impact on
their community!
Would you
"embrace" a
child?
Please pray
about it! If the
Lord puts it
upon you, your
family, or your
church group, to
embrace a needy
child
with your
prayers and your
help it can be
easily done:
1. Contact
us
and let us know
that you are
interested in
embracing a
child. We will
then contact you
with the name,
information, and
picture of a
child in need*.
2. Once
you have chosen
a family your
donation** can be
sent to:

them
and specify for

(you will
automatically be
sent a
tax-deductible

it. 100% of your
donation will go
directly to the
needs of your
child. If
you would like
to communicate
with your child
we would be
happy to be the
go-between for
any
correspondence
needing
translation.

outside of the
envelope).
* Please note:
due to the
situations
surrounding
these children's
lives they
sometimes are
forced to move
to other areas
where we cannot
reach them or
they may stop
participating in
our ministry. If
this were to
happen to your
sponsored child
we would notify
you first and
then pass the
blessing on to
another needy
child.
