Family-
One of the most
gratifying
things to us
here at A.M.O.
is to be able to
help someone out
in their time of
need. Not for
that person to
become solely
dependent on us
but to offer
assistance to
help them when,
despite all
their efforts,
they just can’t
make
it. We minister
to many sincere,
hard working
people who are
genuinely making
an effort to
better their
lives. That’s
where the idea
for Embrace-a-Family
came from.
Most families
that live in the
favelas
come from other
areas of Brazil
with hopes of
finding jobs in
the cities. Most
are extremely
poor,
unemployed, and
generally
uneducated.
Their chances of
finding jobs are
very slim.
Disillusioned
with their
dreams of having
a better life
they wind up
with no place to
live, nothing to
eat, and very
little hope for
help from the
government. They
wind up building
little shacks
from scraps of
material they
find on the
streets and at
city dumps. For
many the dump
becomes the
center of their
hope where they
scavenge for
food, clothing,
and whatever
else they can
find. Their
environment is
very unsanitary,
dangerous and
degrading. Worse
yet, these
favelas keep
growing and
spreading at
alarming rates.
The needs are
tremendous, but
the
opportunities
are great. With
your help one of
these families
could be blessed
to receive a
specified gift*
to assist them
in their
day‑to‑day
struggles to put
food on the
table and
provide for
their basic
needs.

family, or your
church group, to
embrace a family
with your
prayers and your
help it can be
easily done:

and let us know
that you are
interested in
embracing a
family. We will
then contact you
with the name,
information, and
picture of a
family in need.
2. Once
you have chosen
a family your
donations can be
